COMPLETED PROJECTS - NESTLE COLD ROOM

A more unusual project recently undertaken by CP Sound was the installation of of a tannoy system into the cold room at Nestlé, Middlesex. The system is required to operate at -46oC!

The system is used by engineers undertaking maintenance work in this potentially dangerous environment. It is essential they have constant contact with the outside world.

The job required some specialist acoustic calculations and calibration, undertaken by Colin Pattenden. CP Sound installed Shure self-canceling microphones with a gate on each channel. Colin notch-filtered out any background frequencies that leaked through so engineers can simply walk up to the mic and talk into it - with a minimum of hassle. The mic's automatically cancel out the environmental noise and speech is clearly audible. The system is driven by RSE amplifiers.
