New! iDR DSP audio system

iDR is a DSP audio system for fixed installation and live audio systems, launched at the recent PLASA show in London (Sept 8-11). The series encompasses an extensive range of hardware units and software, complemented by the PL series of wall plates and remote controllers. The installer selects the right combination of hardware and configures the system using iDR System Manager software and can then disconnect their PC if desired, leaving the operator with the appropriate level and method of control for day-to-day use.

We wanted to build on the success of our DR series digital installation mixers by offering our customers a cost-effective, easy-to-use alternative to the more complex DSP systems on the market. The DR128 and DR66 are still going strong, but now there’s an Allen & Heath solution for systems of all sizes requiring easy expandability and sophisticated remote control capability.

One or more iDR-8 units sit at the core of any iDR system. iDR-8 is a 2U tall 8+2 in, 8+2 out audio mix processor with Motorola DSPs giving enough processing power for a fixed architecture with full processing for all inputs and outputs. Processing includes preamp gain, pad and +48V, fader, mute, polarity, parametric EQ, crossover filters, compressor and gate with sidechain filter, limiter, crosspoint matrix, input and output patchbay, stereo / group linking, 16 level ducker, automatic mic mixer with ambient noise sensing, two independent pagers and signal generator

Big-budget broadcasters and studios have been enjoying the benefits of digital mixing for a while, so we thought it was about time gigging musicians, schools, small churches and AV hire companies got a piece of the action.


DL1000 in detail :-

6 Mono Inputs - 6 mic / line channels with XLR and TRS inputs. Controls include gain pot, mute, pfl and EQ buttons, plus a 100mm fader. Editable features are: 4 band parametric EQ with HPF, compressor, noise gate and auxes. Phantom power is configurable.
2 Dual Stereo Channels - The I-CON has 2 dual stereo input channels with 100mm faders. Input1 is on [TRS] jacks and input2 is on [RCA] phonos. An XLR mic input and a mono button are provided on both channels
Stereo Mix Outputs - 0dBu line level outputs on TRS, plus -10dBV RCA for 2-track recorder or domestic amplifier
AB Outputs - The output mode for the PA LR feeds and the 2 monitor sends is configured from this section. The 2 balanced XLR outputs with 10 band graphic equalisers can be assigned to: a) stereo PA L&R b) mono PA with foldback monitor mix or c) 2 monitor mixes with external PA
Foldback & Auxiliary Sends - Channels can access 2 auxiliary busses, controlled by 100mm master faders. Output is on [TRS] jacks. They can also be assigned to the AB sections for graphic EQ and XLR output
Equalisers - Mono & stereo channels have 4 band parametric EQ with Q width on the mid bands edited by ‘soft’ rotary controls once a channel EQ button is pressed. The LF section will act as a sweepable HPF when its gain is set to minimum. Output EQ is provided in the AB sections by two linkable 10 band graphic equalisers
Digital FX - 2 separate stereo FX mixes / programs can be set up from the input channels. 80 FX presets are available with individual parameter control. These include ‘insertion’ FX such as autopan and doubler, plus rooms, plates and halls, with delay
Compressors - Each of the 8 input channels has its own compressor. Once accessed, drive, response and knee controls are editable across all the channels in the same screen
Gates - Each of the 8 input channels has its own noise gate. Once accessed, level, attack and decay controls are editable across all the channels in the same screen
Pan - Each of the 8 input channels has a pan control, all editable from the same screen
Memories - Channel parameters such as EQ, dynamics, FX and mutes, plus the FB, Aux, FX1 and FX2 levels are stored in Song memories.
Meters and Monitoring - PFL active indicator. Signal is displayed on main 10 bar peak meters. Headphone output with level control for mono or stereo PFL signals or output buss. Channels have peak signal indicator
PSU - High performance internal switched-mode power supply. Universal mains input voltage.
Footswitch Control - Most parameters can be assigned to footswitches for switched or variable level control. Memories and pause patch can be stepped through using footswitches for live performance
